CHARGES WILL BE FILED AGAINST HICKS AND CARROLL;
ARRAIGNMENTS FRIDAY, JULY 29, 2005
On Thursday, July 28, 2005, the Franklin County Prosecutor's
Office and Columbus City Attorney announced that charges alleging violations
of the state's ethics laws will be filed against Brian Hicks and Cherie
Carroll. Hicks was former Chief of Staff for the Governor and Cherie Carroll
was former executive assistant to Mr. Hicks. The charges will be filed
in Franklin County Municipal Court.
These two former officials will be arraigned tomorrow,
July 29, 2005, at the Franklin County Courthouse, 375 South High Street,
Columbus, Ohio, in Courtroom 4C at 11:00 a.m. The telephone number for

The Ethics Commission, Inspector General, and Ohio State
Highway Patrol are active participants in a joint investigative task force
that includes city, county, and federal prosecutors, FBI, the Investigative
unit of the Bureau of Workers' Compensation, and the Division of Securities
in the Department of Commerce, conducting an ongoing criminal investigation
of issues related to BWC investments and Tom Noe.
