For more information, contact: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ETHICS COMMISSION CONFIRMS INVESTIGATION OF The Ohio Ethics Commission met on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the offices of the Ohio Ethics Commission in Columbus, Ohio. The Commission reviewed three draft advisory opinions reports regarding financial disclosure, educational outreach efforts, and investigation results. In response to the unanimous public request from the members of the Franklin County Board of Elections, the Ohio Ethics Commission confirmed that it is conducting an investigation of potential conflicts of interest in Board of Elections contracts and board officials. The Ethics Commission stated that it appreciates and expects the expressed full cooperation of the Board and its staff with its investigation. The Ohio Ethics Commission is an independent state agency that applies and administers the Ethics Law for state and local public officials and employees outside of the General Assembly and judiciary. The Commission was created 30 years ago upon the enactment of the Ohio Ethics Law in 1973. - 30 - |
