FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ETHICS COMMISSION MEMBER REAPPOINTED

Ethics Commission member Dr. Robert L. Browning has been reappointed by Governor Bob Taft to a second term on the Commission. Dr. Browning joined the Commission in 2000 and served a full six years. His new term begins in January and ends in 2013.

Dr. Browning lives in Worthington, Ohio, and is professor emeritus at The Methodist Theological School. He previously served as a senior counselor for The Council for Ethics in Economics.

"I am honored to have been asked to serve another term on the Ethics Commission. Commission members and staff work very hard to promote fairness and honesty in government on behalf of Ohio's citizens," said Dr. Browning.

The Commission's Executive Director David Freel added, "The public is extremely well served by Dr. Browning's expertise and wisdom as member of the Ethics Commission. We are very pleased we'll have the continued advantage of his knowledge and experience."

The Ohio Ethics Commission is an independent state agency that applies and administers Ohio's Ethics Law for the vast majority of state and local public officials and employees outside of those serving in the General Assembly and judiciary. The Ethics Commission provides ethics information and education, renders advisory opinions applying the Ethics Law, oversees annual financial disclosure filings for many public officials, and investigates allegations of unethical misconduct in government. The Commission was created 33 years ago upon the enactment of the Ohio Ethics Law in 1973.
